On the afternoon of 29 May 2023, the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center (“BAC”) and the Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (“EDAC”) of Turkey signed memorandum on cooperation online. Mr. Lin Zhiwei, Secretary General of the BAC, Dr. Chen Fuyong, Deputy Secretary General of the BAC, Mr. Zhang Haoliang, Director of Business Development (International Arbitration) Division of the BAC, and Mr. Yin Tong, Senior Counsel of the BAC, attended this online signing ceremony.
Mr. Lin Zhiwei and Mr. Süleyman BOŞÇA, President of the EDAC, signed the memorandum on cooperation on behalf of the two arbitration institutions, respectively. According to the memorandum, both parties will jointly promote international arbitration, and have in-depth cooperation in sharing of information and facility, recommendation of arbitrators, organization of international conferences and so forth.

Before the signing ceremony, Dr. Chen Fuyong and Ms. Ece Dayioğlu, Deputy Secretary General of the EDAC, introduced the status quo of the two arbitration institutions respectively. Dr. Chen highlighted the BAC’s practice of arbitration of energy related disputes, the BAC energy dispute workshop and relevant practice. Ms. Ece Dayioğlu presented an introduction of the EDAC’s basic information and data such as its caseload and nationalities of the parties.
Mutual introduction by representatives of both arbitration institutions
The signing of this memorandum on cooperation is helpful to promote the cross-region and cross-institution cooperation of dispute resolution within the Belt and Road jurisdictions. Both arbitration institutions will continue to provide qualified dispute resolution services to arbitration users both in China and abroad based on this memorandum on cooperation.
