On November 11, 2024, Dr. Jiang Lili, the Secretary-General and Committee Member of the Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Center (BAC/BIAC), headed a delegation to Keio University and had cordial and fruitful discussions with Professor Hiroshi Matsuo, Director of the LLM Program at the Faculty of Law, and Visiting Professor Masako Miyatake. The conversation centered on enhancing the training programs aimed at the joint development of arbitration expertise in China, Japan, and South Korea, as well as nurturing a new generation of international professionals skilled in cross-border dispute resolution across the three nations.
Since 2023, Keio University Faculty of Law, a leading higher education institution in Japan, has launched a joint graduate program dedicated to nurturing international arbitration talent in partnership with arbitration organizations from China, Japan, and South Korea. The Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), and the BAC/BIAC have united as supporting arbitration institutions to participate in the course “International Arbitration Practice in Northeast Asia”. Having successfully concluded two sessions, this course has seen active involvement from the BAC/BIAC faculty in both teaching and research discourses, and greatly enhancing scholarly and practical exchanges in arbitration across the Northeast Asia. During this visit to Japan, the BAC/BIAC aimed to bolster and intensify international collaboration in the digital economy, while also charting new avenues for resolving cross-border disputes among China, Japan, and South Korea.
