Seminar on the comparison of mediation practice skills and experiences between Eastern and Western countries
——BAC Arbitrator Seminar (Vol. 46, No. 9, 2008)

  BAC and Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, the Pepperdine University School of Law will hold a remote video conference around the different problems in mediation and the measures for solving them on 18 Sept. 2008 (Thursday), to better play the role of mediation in dispute resolution, use the mediation skills more reasonably and effectively, and enhance the rate of mediation success. Considering the difference of mediation practices between Eastern and Western countries, both parties will discuss what skills should be used in mediation and what traps should be avoided, what opportunities and challenges Chinese independent mediation development are facing, and other issues. The participants are limited to BAC arbitrators, and Chinese-English simultaneous interpreters are provided for the conference.

ICA Beijing Forum
——Celebrating on the Making of “the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards”

   “The New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards” (“The New York Convention”) issued in 1958 plays an important role in promoting the development of international commercial arbitration. BAC hold “ICA Beijing Forum” partnered with famous international arbitration institutes, in order to celebrate the making of “The New York Convention”, show the achievements of Chinese commercial arbitration development, expose Chinese courts’ role on supporting and promoting the arbitration, build up the active image of Chinese judicial reform, promote the communications among the workers of international commercial arbitration. The lecturers are of extensive international representative, and enjoy great prestige in the field of international commercial arbitration. Participants can get to know the status of world-known arbitration institutes and have a face-to-face communication with them, to provide first-hand references for the selection of future dispute resolution institute and the operation of the program.
